While the materials needed to satisfy these examples will be acquired with time, there are some basic steps that can be taken now to make the foreign new world of your new apartment feel more like home.
The furniture you brought with you were also in your old environment. If you find yourself homesick, try arranging the furniture in the exact manner it was before. While the walls and carpeting are most likely different (and this can be changed too, but that is going a little far), you can easily create the same atmosphere that you long for while slowly getting accustomed to the new living space.
